“1 Timothy 4:12 – Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
I know a lot of youth nowadays are scared to talk about Christ, about being a follower, a servant of God. I know I had a tough time talking about it. I still do sometimes. Maybe it’s because I’ve always felt I was too young, like it wasn’t my place, I had too little knowledge. I just decided at one point to not say anything to avoid problems.
The enemy won at that battle. Glory to God, I am now not afraid to say something or to explain myself to someone when they ask why I’m a believer. I’ll dedicate this blog to 1 Timothy 4:12. In this verse, Paul was encouraging Timothy, though Timothy was perhaps between 30 and 40 years old when this letter was written, it applies to the youth, church leader, youth leader, regardless the age.
See, we, especially the youth, have a hard time as believers living in the world. We can easily fall into the things of the world. So. Easily.
I admit, I preferred living like a worldly child, because that’s all I had around me! Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my friends and family and I always will (Mark 12:31), but unfortunately, I can never be like them, part of their ways (unless the repent and put their faith in Christ). My opinions may seem too strong for them and I know that, but when I have Christ in my life, how could I not share the Good News of Him?
In several churches, even those I were/am in, a lot of teenagers still struggle or lose interest in the Word. It’s a sad thing, because we should be encouraging one another! But we feel embarrassed, we don’t want to meddle in their lives or perhaps we don’t really know where to start. It can happen! Don’t worry! But, when you see a fellow teenager struggling with their faith, talk to them. Encourage them, show them encouraging verses! Whatever it can be.
1 Corinthians 10:13 – 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Deutoronomy 31:6 – 6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
This post is dedicated to not only the youth, but to everyone to encourage on another! We have so many teens/young adults who want to know more about the Word of God, the Good News of Jesus Christ, who died for us on the cross and redeemed us by His blood. This is a challenge for me, for you, for whoever it may be, to share the Good News. Talk to someone about Christ and how He has changed your life for the better. If that person rejects you, so be it, but you can’t let that bring you down. If that person wants to know more, share what you know or invite them to church service/youth meetings/bible studies and so they can hear more about Christ or talk to the pastor of your church.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 – 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Galatians 1:10 – 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
And with that, I’ll leave you with this verse, just in case I haven’t made myself clear.
Praise to the God of All Comfort
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.– 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
