Christmas is here! And, boy, am I happy to be with my loved ones once again.
It’s a time to gather around and spend time with family and friends.
Most importantly, it’s about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Nowadays, we are fed the idea that Christmas is about celebrating with family, eating an amazing dinner and opening gifts. Now, this is nothing bad, but people are not involving the true meaning of Christmas in their lives anymore.
John 1:14 says this:
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
We are here thanks to Jesus, who died on the cross for our sin. We have received the gift of God through Jesus Christ. Did you know that the meaning of Jesus is God saves?
God saves, because Jesus is God and he was sent on earth to save us from sin, to free us through his salvation. Emmanuel means God with us. He is with us through all the wickedness of the world. He is with us through our sins that we commit.
When we confess him as our Lord and Savior, we free ourselves from sin thanks to Him. And thank God for Jesus Christ, because now you and I can live a life without sin when we repent and confess.
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
When we sin, we face the punishment of death, but when we receive the gift of God that is salvation, our gift is eternal life in Jesus Christ.
Here’s some food for thought:
Galatians 5:19-21:
“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Now, look, I’m not saying I’m a saint, because, I, myself am still learning of these kinds of things. But I encourage you to join me on my journey to the kingdom of God.
So, let’s try to involve Jesus Christ in our Christmas today and always.
Merry Christmas to one and all and may God continue to bless you now and always.
18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about : His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). 24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.
