Besides the terrifying traffic, that reminds me of an even worse version of Amsterdam traffic in rush hour, and long walks that that were like 90 percent of my whole trip, London has definitely left me wanting more. It’s enormous, ancient buildings and colorful taxis, that I cannot get enough of, have inspired me and taught me about how wherever you go, it’ll leave you with the thought of things you could never forget. London is truly to die for with its ancient buildings on one side and new buildings on the other side. The amount of shops you can visit are impossible to go through all in one day.
It was the first time ever that I’ve travelled by bus to go to a foreign place. We drove via Belgium and France before actually taking a boat to go to London.
The nature surrounding you everywhere you go is breathtaking. I was actually happy that we were walking at times, because I felt free to look around and stare at things I’ve never seen before and examine them one by one. I went to the London Dungeon – also a first – and even though I got scared a thousand times, I wanted to go again. I ate until I couldn’t get anything else in my stomach anymore. And again, I walked until my feet started hurting. I got lost in the big city nearly two times with my friends. But all in all, it was an amazing experience.
Not only because I was traveling with my school and my close friends, but because I finally visited the city I always dreamed of visiting (besides my other dream city LA). The first time I set foot on London, was the first time I felt like I was home in a long time. And not home as in ‘it reminds me of where I’m from’ , but as in I feel like someday I could just pack my bags and stay in London for some time. Not only am I happy at the fact that they have Pizza Hut in London, but also because of the entertainment and the people. You can agree or disagree, but despite Londoners always being in a bit of rush, they’re always happy to lend a hand. The many times my friends and I got lost, there wasn’t one person who didn’t stop to help us with directions or so.
And entertainment. From street entertainment to musicals, I have definitely loved that about London. When I was walking down the streets of London, I could hear a man beat boxing that I was mouth-opened when I saw that it was just someone on the street trying to make money off of his talent. That same night I went to the musical Cats, that was so energetic with the songs and dancing. Despite being very tired and every hour hearing someone shush another because they were talking, I would definitely consider going to a musical like that. It was my first time and I absolutely loved it, even though it was so long. But London is certainly a beautiful place to visit one day. Living situation, I don’t know because I’ve never lived there but I would want to one day. I recommend whoever wants to go to London; Go, it’s worth it. It’s a place for everyone and everything.
